The Stuart Highway is flooded north of Three Ways, affecting not only traffic and supply trucks from southern states, but also travellers from Queensland as the Barkly Highway meets the Stuart Highway south of the flooded area.
A 500m stretch of railway line between Tennant Creek and Katherine has also been washed away, cutting an alternative supply route to the Top End.
Towards the west, the Victoria Highway has caused major flooding at the Vic River Roadhouse.
Chief Minister Eva Lawler said she had postponed a trip to Japan as nothing was more important to her than the safety and wellbeing of Territorians. This is why I will be staying in the Territory to ensure we have plans in place to respond to this weather event.
"At this stage our infrastructure corridors are becoming inaccessible," she said.
"We are working on plans on how we can get supplies into the Territory. "Territorians are mine and our Government's number one priority. We will make sure we get our infrastructure corridors back up and running.

On January 18 about 40 residents from Pigeon Hole were evacuated by air, with 35 people relocated a short stay accommodation in Darwin and five medically vulnerable people transported to Katherine.
The community was evacuated as power and water has been shut off to the community due to flooding and concerns that the water would continue to rise.
The Territory Emergency Operations Centre said there were also concerns around food security.
Meanwhile about 50 residents from Daguragu self-relocated to Kalkarindji with preparations underway for accommodation in the community.
So far, community members have settled into the existing housing pods.
Further north the community of Daly River is well prepared for flooding with contingency plans for alternative accommodation and food supply in place if required.
The Daly River is currently at moderate and at this stage the forecast doesn't predict the Daly River to reach major flood level.
